I have been asked by a number of folks for recommendations for lodging in the Annapolis area for this years (3rd Annual) Chesapeake Rendezvous.

The two closest ramps for trailer boats would be Sandy Point State Park on the western shore ( http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/ ... point.html ), and Matapeake State Park on the eastern shore ( http://www.stateparks.com/matapeake.html ).

Both ramps are only about 20 minutes by water to the raft-up location in Ridout Creek. If you were with us previously, you know that boat traffic can make the Whitehall Bay location a bit bumpy. This year we decided to move into Ridout Creek, which is off of Whitehall Creek in much more protected water.

Accommodations on the eastern shore are probably cheaper than the Annapolis area, though there is a Quality Inn within 1 mile of Sandy Point State Park on the western shore. The place did not have a great reputation when it was a Days Inn years ago, but it was remodeled recently and is now under new ownership. Parking is available in their lot for trailer boats.

On the eastern shore in Kent Island, there are a number of motels in the Kent Narrows area, all of which can accommodate trailer boats. A list of those places can be found here: http://www.kentisland.cc/lodging.html

I will have to rely on our eastern shore members to suggest which ones are good, and if there are any to stay away from. I'd also like our ES members to suggest some of the great restaurants on Kent Island, because there are a bunch of them.

So... for anyone thinking of traveling to the area to attend this years Rendezvous, we have some great close-by accommodations to choose from!
