Finally getting the new TM installed. Usually a DIY guy but I’m recently retired and relocated from CT to SC. Quickly became evident a TM was essential. So I contracted with Odyssey Boatworks for my motor, lithium battery and install. Chad from Odyssey has been a pleasure to deal with and obsessed with doing things right. The install includes a beefy aluminum custom powder coated bracket. We had to cut the front partition to allow for backing plate access. I will glass that back in myself. Some early pix, more to come as the job is completed. The boats a 97 and I’ve had it over 20 years.

In most cases does it matter which side of the bow you mount your TM? I've seen it both ways and this is on my list in a month or so.

Only time it matters is if there is a anchor hatch door and the way it swings, but it your case, it doesn't exist.

How thick is the aluminum plate? My Rhodan bent a 3/8" 6061 Aluminum plate that I fab'd up last year. I just finished another plate out of 1/2". FWIW, my plate was very similar in shape to yours, but I mounted it on a shuttle slide which allowed be to stow it very tight to the rub rail.

Couple of updated pix. I decided to do a rail delete for ease of deployment and retrieve ( it helps that the boat is a 97’ that I’ve had over 20 years so no worries about mods).

The mounting bracket is 1/2 aluminum on the part that overhangs and one inch where it meets the deck. The backing plate is 3/8s. I did have to cut out a section of the forward bulkhead to allow for access. Glassed it back in after and readhesived the carpet.
