Here was some advice I gave someone with the exact same boat as mine but it is pretty much universal to most setups. I only hope this info helps someone get more time in the fish fight instead of the motor fight. I am also sure someone has a better post than mine on this matter. One thing about explosive jobs I learned as a army scout, its pretty hard for a smart person to create an explosion but a dumbA can find that right mix without even thinking.

check fuel level sender unit seal for deterioration and replace
(this is how sand, yes friggin sand, and debris enter)

good time to look inside tank and face the music, if needed have fuel polished and tank cleaned or, gulp....... replaced
(professional help needed, if scared of explosions)

replace fuel lines with marine grade hose
(fuel ines can collapse or have obstruction)
replace all hose clamps and double clamp
(air leaks p me off)

get a very large fuel filter you can see into
(large so it will not clog and can tell if clogged through site)

pull fuel pickup tube or tubes and remove screens
(number one reason, other than clogged filter)

shorten one pickup and use it as main, use longer as backup by installing shutoff valve, the short one will not pick up as much trash as the bottom pickup
(tapping into both pickups ensures delivery even if they clog)
siphon all gas out using filter back to tank(recycling)

replace bulb and ensure it is pointing up installed
(this will make it easier to prime and keep up fuel flow)

check fuel tank vent for obstruction, line for kink
place bulb as close as possible to motor vertically and ensure bulb or fuel line does not kink when turning or trimming motor
keep plenty of extra fuel filters until tank show less debris
get seatow or boatus and smile and wave at all passing by
(may need help in future)

check your filters before rough seas or inlets
(trust me this is when it happens most)

I have a 2110 and went through this after it sat up a while, drove me crazy. Do not touch the motor until this is established or your nightmare will be just beginning. Check fuel pump for presssure but never start adjusting anything until you are sure it is the motor.
