Location
Greenhill, R.I.
Was out fri night/ sat morn,, and the GPS started acting screwy with my location, heading, etc. along with the map.

It's a Garmin 520 w/ g2

Was raining off & on, thunder lightening and fog.
Trying to get back in the pitch black fog and having the GPS letting me down was not expected.
Finally the lightening got close & bright enough to make it in.

Does the weather bother GPS like it does with Satelite TV?
Was this normal or is the unit going kaput? Only 4 weeks onboard. Wires all good.

I'm at a loss (more ways than one).

Weather absolutely effects GPS reception and probably was the cause of your issues. Do you have an external antenna? They seem to be more reliable as they are usually placed in an optimal location. I carry a back up portable and have Navionics in my iPhone. GPS is nice but has let me down before and can be interesting when it does.

Thanks Max.
Thought about it afterwards,, being like the satelite TV and all.
Small CC, not much room for mounting an external anywhere that I'd think it could be worthwhile.

Guess I'd better dig out my old log book and compare compass reading.

Thanks for the reply.
