Installing a kicker motor on the stock bracket

I am wanting to install a kicker motor onto my boat and wanted to see if anybody has installed one on the stock bracket. On my last boat I had an aluminum kind of box cut at a diagonal (if that makes sense) that the kicker mounted to. I was thinking of having a similar box made and bolting that to the bracket and then mounting the kicker to the aluminum frame. So, who has mounted a kicker on the stock bracket that did not have the little mounting plate for it already there? Pictures? Also for those of you who have a kicker, what size do you have? I am thinking a Yamaha 15 HP, will a 9.9 work or too small? Thanks

I had a bracket fabed for my 2320 bracket I mounted it where the Parker bracket would mount. I paid $100 for it I have a 9.9 4s and its all I need for trolling.

I mounted my to the transom with an off the shelf bracket that can lift the motor completely out of the water. The 9.9 4s Yamaha works great for my 2520, I can do 6mph if I had to. Be careful not to leave the kicker in the water when running when the kicker is in gear or you can jump start the motor like push starting a car.

I have a 20hp kicker for my 25 Pilot Hse. It is mounted on the Parker standard kicker bracket. It was installed by the dealer.

I have the exact type of bracket for mine that you are talking about.
1/2 aluminum plate welded to a 90 deg angle with gusseted sides then powdercoated and through bolted to the motor bracket. A half of a box shape like you said.
A couple pieces of starboard shim material where the clamps are and bolted in the bottom holes.
I have a T-8 and it works just fine for salmon trolling until the wind gets to much then I just use one of the mains.
Dont have a picture handy but you idea will work just fine.
