I need to perform some service on my windlass and having trouble removing the "drive cap" (part with the sailfish logo).
The user manual just says:
1) remove shoulder screw from drive cap.
2) remove drive cap
Ok, I removed the center "shoulder screw" and washer but the drive cap isn't coming off.
Maybe some corrosion and needs some coaxing, but does it just pull straight off or unscrew?
Anything else to remove that could be holding it captive?
If it's supposed to come straight off, any tips on removal if stuck? Gear puller, loving taps with mallet?
Thanks in advance.

Sent my inquiry to Lewmar and got the following reply:

Thank you for contacting Lewmar.
The cap unscrews counterclockwise.
There may be some corrosion on it so you would need to break it free of that in order to remove it from the main shaft.
