I've never written this type of peronal information on a public forum before, but I really need your advice on what could be a crucial decision.
I've suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs...phone rings, but if I answer, the caller hangs up. My wife has been going out with the girls a lot recently, although when I ask their names she always says, "Just some friends from work, you don't know them."

I sometimes stay awake to look out for her cab coming home, but she always comes walking up the drive as I hear the sound of a car leaving, around the corner, as if she has gotten out and walked the rest of the way. Why? Maybe she wasn't in a taxi at all?

I once picked up her cell phone, just to see what time it was. This caused her to go completely berserk. She quickly snatched the phone out of my hand and cursed me hysterically, screaming that I should never touch her personal property, then accused me of trying to spy on her.

Anyway, I have never broached the subject with my wife. I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth, but last night she went out again and I decided to really check on her. I decided I was going to hide behind my boat so I could get a good view of the street around the corner when she came home. It was at that moment, crouching behind my boat that I noticed a small amount of oil leaking from the lower unit in front of the propeller.

So...is this something I can easily repair myself or do you think I should take it back to the dealer?

Mine has been easing out for over two years but she still fires up and runs good. I just dob her a little and make sure she has adequate fluids. If I throw her in the water, she does tend to leave a sheen but settles down quickly. The cost of replacing her without her dripping when I take her to the shop could get way out of my budget. I have been rubbing the bottoms of others now to see if the problem is just with mine and by golly it feels good to know I am not alone in this and rubbing others takes my mind off my leaky situation. I say sit back and relax till the leak hits skeg with a rush and she cannot be dobbed. Obviously just my experience......................Pete

Still LMAO. :D

I've had a little oil leak around the seal on the fill screw before. It runs down and drips off the bottom. That's what I get for reusing the same fiber washer over again. Check to make sure where it's leaking before you take it in.

,

What you could be seeing is remnant unburnt oil that is weeping out the thru-hub exhaust.

Regarding the missus, please don't bring her to a dealer, or she'll get screwed for sure ;) . Apologies in advance for tongue-in-cheek weak attempt at humor ...

I think your lower unit is leaking because someone is using your boat when you aren't looking. You might try spending a little more time servicing the lower unit yourself and not letting any other mechanics getting their grubby fingers on her. Of course I have to ask if you have a big enough tool to service the lower unit.
