I'm guessing that it is an MV... either 14 or 16 degree deadrise?

The 225 and 250 4-strokes weigh the same.
If it were me and my money, I'd go for the 250.

If it is a DV... most definitely the 250.

whats the local dealer in your area for yamaha/suzuki/honda/merc? my decisions are based soley on who is going to give me the best service after the sale not the lowest price. I will vouch for yamaha and suzuki though. I have had both and no problems with either. Hondas are supposed to be great at cruising speeds efficiency wise. No real knowledge on the Mercs except they look cool.

I guess you got a bad report from your mechanic about the engine Brian. It's tough trying to do 50 miles offshore and not know if you will make it back or not. I know you said you were going on the Renegade Sunday, I'm probably going to make a run with my boat as well.I'll give you a shout.
