Opinions on newer Yamaha F250 4.2L vs older F250 3.3L

I have a friend who is looking to repower to the newer Yamaha F250 4.2L vs. the older 3.3L version. I personally have not heard of any reoccurring issues but have not been monitoring that closely. Any thoughts?

I understand the newer block requires at least 89 octane?

Hope you are doing well. Not sure how helpful this is, but I've been following it.
Good luck this year, if Nov 2012 is anything like Nov 2011 up this way, we need to get you up here. Brad made the run last year more than once and you know how far that is (it was worth it). :wink:

Brad mentioned the action you had up your way last year and it was definitely worth it. I'm glad you had such a great fall season that lasted so long...I'll be planning to join on a few trips!
