A little back story... I found this boat near Hilton Head, SC. The previous owner had purchased complete and running. He said that it was one of 5 that was built like this for the NC 4 h club. He noticed that the floor was soft. Decided that he should do a restoration. He pulled the floor the foam and the engine and that’s the point when he noticed some stringers and bulkheads were in need of replacement. He said the he noticed that tanks were leaking too.
I have owned it a year or more but didn’t have an appropriate workspace to start this project. I do now.
I have no experience with fiberglass, but once was a trim carpenter so the wood work doesn’t seem to be too daunting. I do have mechanical background and can say that I have had the engine running and it seems to be flawless.

today we started assessing the damage of the rotten stringers. It does seem that they were affected by the diesel leak. After cutting out a couple of stringers and bulkheads the smell of fuel was strong. Not all of the strings seem to be affected. But the middle of the boat (low point forward from the engine) seems to be affected pretty severely. Did some cut out and have much more to do. Any helpful tips will be appreciated. I am sure I will have tons of questions through this process.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Capt. Jason, It looks like you are new to ClassicParker; Welcome! You and all the other ClassicParker folks who have the ability (and guts!) to tear these boats apart and rebuild them amaze me; and I love watching the progress here on CP.... I'll leave the advice and suggestions on the re-build to all the other CP experts. But I might be of some help with general questions/discussions on Diesel engines; brands, fuel issues, tanks, filtration issues and such as my previous boats (over 31 years) were Diesels... I didn't know Parker made any boats with Diesels, until seeing your post...

Thanks. I am sure there will be some questions in that regard. I haven’t did anything but make a mess so far lol. It should be a fun project. I am pretty excited about the Cummins. I will try to keep the forum up to date with progress that is made.
