On my 1993 1800, I too found the cooler seat to be less than ideal to be seated at when running. On a budget, so I removed the swing back seat and made some brackets to raise the height of the stock Polar cooler, so that it is at a pseudo leaning post height. Added a little ledge on the console to rest my toes on. It is not a lazy boy but I don't really miss the seat back, and enjoy the space gained by removing the stock seat base.
