Has anybody removed pedestal seat bases from an 1800? I am curious if there is a backing plate on the underside of the floor through which the bases are bolted, or if they are simply screwed into the plywood floor. Trying to determine how easy it will be to swap to a leaning post.

Based on my limited knowledge, I wouldn't think it would be bolted because there is no access to the backside. And... I'm pretty sure it wouldn't matter if it was or not. Most of the leaning posts will be designed to be screwed to the deck. Even if you got one that needed bolts, the chances of getting an exact match hole pattern are slim and most likely none.
They are glued and screwed.
Remove and repair existing holes properly. Install leaning post properly to avoid water intrusion.
