Brand new 21se here and I love the boat. I am starting to notice all the hardware holding the livewell down is rusting. Then my jumó seats have rust on the screws. Finally my tow rings on the bow are rusting.

my dealer tried to file a warranty claim with Parker and was told stainless is not stain proof. I call crap as I had a 4 year old Montauk and only used 316 ans never once an issue with rust.

is it at easy as just buying stainless screws, going one by one unscrew the screw and take it out. Coat new screw with 4200 and put back down. Wait 24 hours then clean with some barkeepers friend? Or should I clean first with barkeepers friend and wait 24 hoursto remove rust then next day do the screws?

what size screws do I need?

pics of the rust…..

The cheaper the stainless, the more magnetic the screws will be. Remove a couple of rusty screws, and see how close you can move a good magnet to them before they jump to it. Good stainless may stick, but it won't jump. Video would be good.

Most likely they used 304 (food grade) instead of 316. Oxalic acid is my goto for cleaning rust stains. I buy in bulk powdered and mix for a spray bottle or as a paste.
Remove the hardware, clean the stain, replace the hardware with the proper grade.

The main problem is improper bedding. Buy your replacement hardware, remove the old, clean everything with "super stainless", bed with 4200 or UV 4000 or your adhesive sealant of choice, then, reinstall all screws, hardware, bolts with adequate bedding compound.
If parker spent 20 cents and spent 20 seconds bedding hardware properly, we Parker folks wouldn't have this issue.

I have a lot of rust on my hardware and it’s annoying. Apparently Parker went with the lowest Chinese bidder.

I guess that is the cost of staying competitive? My Parker 2006 has minimal to no rust in comparison except on the stern towing eyes which I can’t easily remove and re-bed.

BINGO! You nailed it......Remember the company was sold .
I have a 2018 “pre-sale” 1801, and my stainless is also rusting. The original manufacturers must have been “milking” the business prior to selling out.

My 2019 has the same problem. I use FSR every six months or so to keep it a bay. I also replace my plastic cup holders with stainless ones.

My 2015 2510 WA had absolutely no rust on any of the components...looked at a 2018 2810 WA, and almost every component on that boat had rust or rust stain 'dripping' down. Very disappointing for what was such a reputable manufacturer!
