My truck has a 4 pin wiring connector where my trailer has 5 pins. Right now, I'm putting a pin/bolt on the trailer when I back up so that the surge brakes don't lock up. Will installing a 5-pin harness on my car enable me to back up without engaging the surge brakes? And of so, what does that additional wire connect to in my truck? I assume I need a new connector for the truck?

thanks

Assuming the electronic lockout solenoid is working properly, a 5-pin harness on your tow vehicle will solve your problem. The additional wire gets connected to the reverse light circuit.

The 5 pin plug for your vehicle will have a blue wire running from the end pin. Connect it directly to your back up light wire and your good to go............
