Actually, I think that might be a Groco seacock. But regardless, proper installation demands that it be be installed on a backing plate. Most yards use wood. It shouldn't be mounted directly against the fiberglass. The backing plate will spread the load. Google "seacock installation" and you will see more than you need to know.
BTW, the bronze threaded plug is there to drain any captured water while winterizing. Yeah, I know...nobody ever does that. It's fairly common to replace the plug with a grease zerk to allow greasing of the valve.
Finally, don't use brass or copper fittings when you replumb, especially if this is installed below the waterline. They will corrode away almost before your eyes.
