when did electronic controls come out?

Hi, I am looking at a few parkers equipped with 250's. the dealer told me on the 2008 leftover models he has, they only came with the cable driven shifter. On the 09, it has the electrnoic shifting. I was wondering if this is true? Or is it an option. I am looking at a 07 28 which has electronic controls and am tryiing to find out if that was an option or if it is aftermarket. Thanks

The electronic controls you are referring to... did they look like these?
(these were on an '06 or '07 2820)
