So the big questions:

Now that Yamaha has announced the F350 v-8 that weighs in at approximately 850 lbs....

1. Will the current bracket for singles accept the beast?
2. Will Parker start offering this as a "standard" power option
3. Assuming a street cost of 20 to 23K rigged will anyone repower with this?
4. Will the madness ever end?

Richard

Since the 300 Suzuki is 23k rigged and this new OB uses fly-by-wire controls, I think you will see a street priced rigged of 25k for a repower easily out the door.

My dealer told me that Parker wouldn't be offering the F300 but would be going straight to the F350. Anyone heard different?
As to the madness ending, my guess is 'no'!

Life used to be much simpler...
The hull rating on my 2520 MVSC (14 degrees of deadrise) is 335 hp.

But... if you read the 2007 specifications for the 25' SC lineup, they read like this:

2520 SL (16 degrees deadrise) - 250 hp
2520 SLD (21 degrees deadrise) - 300 hp
2520 XL (16 degrees deadrise) - 450 hp
2520 XLD (21 degrees deadrise) - 500 hp
2530 EC (21 degrees deadrise) - 500 hp

So... In the present 25' lineup, I only see three models that can handle the new F350.

The 2820 XLD is rated at 600 hp, so that model really isn't a candidate for the F350 either.

Conclusion? The F350 might be a candidate for DV or XL owners who want a big single. It could also be for new hulls, as yet unannounced...

For me? I'd love to do a "long term test" of a 300, so anyone with a 300 Etec, F300 Yamaha, or a DF300 Suzuki that they want to donate for this test, feel free to give me a call. :D

25K is a whole lotta cabbage. In '97 I repowered with a 225 Oceanrunner on my CC at a total cost of @10K. I've got an XL that w/225 is adequate for what I do, but a few more ponies would be nice too. But for that kind of cash to rerig, I'd have to start considering a pilothouse/downeast with a single diesel due to initial cost, reliability, longevity and fuel economy.
