I spoke with an ICOM tech and think I will be sending the radio in for repair over the winter...incidently I love this radio and would not hesitate to but another one...thanks for your comments......incidently I'm not sure that it is entirely ICOM's fault my wife just told me that my 2 year old...

    ICOM 504 squelch control

The squelch control knob seems to have lost its sensitivty. It is either on or off....when off I get the typical static associated with having it off...when on I can only receive from boata that are close (1/2 mile) to me. There is no middle ground where I can eliminate static and still hear...

Tried a different product this spring that the boatyard guys use it is called "aqua buff" - water souable compound comes in two differnt grits 1000 and 2000; they also have a 1000 fast cut. Slip - Private vs Semi-Private?

I am located on floating docks and I back into my slip. My neighbor is located on my starboard side so I am able to tie my port springline very short and in combination with a fender. I use the stern lines to keep the boat close to the finger pier on my port side. On the port side I drop one...

    Slip - Private vs Semi-Private?

I would agree it is time to move. I have a semi-public slip and it has worked out fine. Docking can be a challenge. I know I gave the other marina members several interesting shows. When I first got my slip I noticed that most of the "old timers" were located on one side of the dock and not...

    Question on StarBoard

I do not think there is any glue that will secure Starboard. When I first started working with the Starboard I was told that it can not be glued. Being somewhat skeptical of this I have tried a number of glues and none have worked. I have since given up and use mechanical fasteners.

    Show me the Toys! Fishing

Although it may not meet the technical definition of fishing tackle my wife bought me a watch that keeps track of the tides...seems pretty cool - it does air temp and water temp, too. Of course you need to be in the water to get the water temp. Merry Christmas!

    Generator Preference

Would like to hear from some of you that have generators on-board. I am looking to purchase one. I have seen a number of posts and the honda 1000 and 2000's seem popular. I am also looking at the Yanaha EF2400iSC and the Husqvarna 420GN...the honda seems to be the smallest and lightest of the...
