Hi Guys,
1.Does anyone know what size shaft was used on 2520mv notched transome?
2. Has anyone repowered this hull with a Yam 225 4 stroke and were you Satisfied?

My orig 225 OX66 still runs good, but it is 11 seasons old and has around 800 hrs on it.
I found a good deal on a 2009 left over 225 4 stroke installed for 15K w/a 25" shaft.

Thanks for any input, Ken

I have a 2002 2520 with a notched transom. 25 inches is (or was) standard...but they also offered it with a 30 inch optional transom from the factory. If you are not sure, or if the boat is not close to your home for measuring, call the factory with your HIN. They'll be able to confirm.

That OX66 will fetch good money if it has been maintained well.
800 hours is nothing on those motors.
Someone will pounce on that deal.

I just repowered with a F250 BTXR 25 inch on the same hull just a 1999.

I don't think a F225 will have enough power. I think they are really like 200hp.

The F225 F150 and F250 have had major exhaust problems in the previous years. The exhaust tube corrodes and burns a hole though the oil pan causing the motor to lose all the oil and seize.

Yamaha says they corrected the problem by coating the tube in all motors built after 2006.

Only problem is they don't rot until around 800 hour and most of those 2006 and later motors don't have 800 hours on them so there's no way of telling if the fix worked.

I bought a 2008 leftover anyway with a 6 year warranty and plan on pulling the powerhead in year 5 to see if the problem still exists while I'm still under warranty.

Cruise on that engine and boat is 4800 and I'm burning 12.5 gph doing 29 mph
Wot is 5600 burning 16gph and 35 mph

So far, only 15 hours on it, I really like it. It's quiet, fast , no oil to add, burns less gas and no smoke.

If you have the money do it, you won't regret it.
