Hi I recently purchased a 2008 Parker 2820 xld and if any one knows what kind of performance and speeds I would get if I powered it with 2008 Yamaha 150 four strokes, I have a chance to get a great deal on these motors with rigging and they have under 100 hours (under ten grand for the pair w/controls), also I do have a nother option as a friend works at a boat dealer ship and has a line on two Yamaha Z300s 2004 two strokes w/187 hours with all the updates done, but there is always the risk of them having damaging problems before they were updated as I saw a lot issues with these motos, water intrusion kit, number 2 cyl over heating, oil pump update to add more oil and some plug fouling after increase and foul filter and presure issues, I am pretty mechanically inclined but do want to spend more time on the water than under the cowlings, i can get the pair of Z300s for 13,500- with controls, I don,t think I can touch a pair of F250s for these numbers, also im thinking I could always get a return on my money on the 150s and go bigger later as money is tight now, any advice would be great, Thanks

Twin 150's sounds like it would be underpowered to me, i have seen 2320's with twin 150's and a few 2520's but a 2820 i would think you are gonna need a lot more ponies then that to push her around just my .02

i agree the 150s are much too small for that boat . I am interested in a set of 150s for my 2520 and I am asking myself the same question ,, should I look at 200s.. so i know 150s will not do for you. I maybe interested in the 150s you are speaking of.. 8035186377

Ok so the 150s are not going to cut it would it be a mistake on the 04 two stroke Z300s, Thx

If the HPDI's have had all their updates and you can get them for a good price, I'd do it if it were me.
The 300 HPDI's got a lot of bad press due to teething issues when they were new, but I believe Yamaha addressed those issues long ago.

I have a 05 2820 with twin 250s, I'm am considering repowering with 300s. When we head offshore full of fuel, provisions, gear, 4 guys and whatever else we are over 12000lb.
To stay on a plane in good conditions, I cruze at 4200 rpm @ 28kts burning 18-22 gallons a hour. In ruff seas I sometimes wish I had a pair of 300s behind me, the 250s sometimes has trubble climbing out of a trough or just picking up speed and bringing the bow down.
I have lost one motor twice and with one motor my top speed is 8 kts. The 150s are way too small for that boat.
