So, as you all know i finally bought my first Parker Boat a month or so ago. 2320 SL SC lol i am assuming (see my other post) All i can do now in New England is pray for snow to melt, research parts and/or information, so i can start customizing the new/used boat to serve my needs. So from what i have read/researched, the 2320 has 2 ea bilge pumps. One forward and one aft. As i am a little skittish from my last boat almost sinking from a failed bilge pump, i am thinking i will want to install a second bilge pump in the back. My fear is that water will get onto the deck and if my current bilge pump fails, i will be in big trouble especially in waters in Alaska. So i am wondering what your thoughts are? Is there more than one from the factory? or has anyone installed a second one? or has anyone had one fail at a bad time? Just trying to find out best course of action. Thanks

There are bilge high water alarm,

You could add a piece of starboard and mount the second pump and run the hose to starboard install second switch or upgrade both pumps to new higher gph pumps add a couple of heavy duty hand pumps rigged for ready ton use . Fwiw the pump ratings are off

I just got into another boat yesterday.. [Not Parker] Installing a new 1000watt X-ducer.

While looking in the bilge and customer standing there... I said to him.." You want me to change that Dog Toy / Piece of Crap bilge hose out while I'm there?

If you have this stuff... Replace it!

I've installed 2nd Bilge pumps on my personal boats. I'm talking aft bilge... So my Parker had 1 Forward... and 2 aft.

My setups work like this. Rule 1500 is Primary run through a separate float switch.
2000 Rule as secondary .... Run thru a separate float switch, but elevated slightly. [aprox 1 1/2in to 2in higher]

Also hooked to that second switch is a Pezo alarm mounted under the helm.

If that alarm sounds you BETTER be Scrambling to see whats going ON.

I do NOT use all in one Bilge pumps.

This is the only switch I use... You can't see it in the pix, but it has a little lever on the outside of the cage to lift and test your system....which should be part of your prep to go to sea.

That totally sounds like my way of thinking, I like having a backup for sure. Better safe then sorry. My thought was to install a manual only bilge pump in the aft along side of the factory one in which i really haven't looked at yet. To be sure, i may just change out original and add second per above recommendations from Warthog. So that being said, with the addition of the second pump in the aft bilge, i am assuming in battery compartment as well (remember this in my first parker) , my assumption is i will need to run another bilge line outside of the boat meaning having to drill another hole in the side of the boat. In which side is best and any tricks of doing such? and any recommendations on size and/or brand of bulkhead fitting? And obviously i am going to have to run wires all the way to the dash to hook up to what i am assuming another rocker switch? Is there any extras from the factory or is there room for another and if so where can i get these switches? Sorry for all the questions, but while the snow is deep outside, i would like to get everything ordered and here now to start the job. That way when snow melts i wont be waiting for parts/supplies. Thanks

You may not have a forward bilge pump in your 2320. I don't on my '19. Easy enough to tell, look for an outlet that is really high with no flap for starters. Get a little endoscope wifi camera off Amazon and poke around your cabin drain. Good to have anyway.

It was very expensive, like 600-700 bucks total, but I ended up installing an extra bilge pump, an Ultra safety systems Sr. switch, with a high water alarm in the cabin. This lets you know you have a problem before you take on a crazy amount of water. We sleep on the boat from time to time.

I put the extra pump in the rear on the standard pump pad and wired it to the opposite battery as the original. You have to shift the factory pump position a little to make sure the 2 hoses clear each other and everything else too. It sucked, but it worked. You will need another through-hull as well, with the hose routed up to the gunwale and back down so it can't siphon. I couldn't put my extra through hull right next to the original, as it just wasn't enough room on the inside. You can buy a few rare earth magnets and stick them on either side of the hull to precise locate your spot. The ones I used "stuck together" through >3/4 inches of lamination. HD and Lowe's carry them.
Freaking boat is filthy, sorry. USS say they will void your warranty if you cut the wires, so I left them long, plus easier to change a pump next time.
