I finally made the call and hung a new zuke300 on the woodytoo. I have put 40 hours on it this spring, and so far I am really pleased. I chose to work with Marshall at fast action marine on big pine key to do the job. He is local and has helped me in the past, so I loved paying it back and working with him. The majority of the work was completed before the lockdown, but with the boat behind the house the wife and I have been running it every chance I get!

Stats - I have settled on a 17 inch pitch prop (tried a 20 and 18.5), and able to get 6300 rpm trimmed up wot. Did all my sea trials with just the wife and I, and tried to stay consistent with 100 gal of fuel. Optimal performance seems to be 4300-4500 rpm, and I turn 25 knots at around 14 gallons per hour. Hole shot and acceleration is awesome, whole different world than the yammy 225.

The ride surprises me a bit. It is very different. It feels like the bow does not raise as high once on plane and I find I am using very little tab. On flat water I trim it way up (70%) on the gauge, but if I am in heavy seas I have to keep the trim down way low or I cavitate. The tech who rigged it said that there is a difference of a few inches on the center of torque between the zuke and the yammy, I know there is a big gearing difference but thought that would equalize with propping.

I fought the c10 gauges a bit, but now am comfy with them. Love the fly by wire controls, almost too smooth, I have bounced from forward to reverse more than once by accident. And the dual station setup is really nice. Love having nema2000 engine data networked to my Garmins, feeling all updated and up to modern times!

All and all very pleased with the setup, and it is really good to be comfy again with a reliable power plant. The Yammy was good to me, 3750 hours and 15 years, oil pump seal was my only major mechanical issue, and she got me home every time we fished! Couple times limping, but who is counting!

Look at the base of the control where it sits on the mounting surface....At the back face there is a small screw up in a blind like hole.....right at the mounting face....This will add a little friction to the control....They can be Toooooo easy to move and with the boat bouncing can allow the control to change RPM....Tighten it up and I think you will find it much nicer

A DF300 APX is the engine for these boats :) and a 3 blade 16dia X 17 pitch is the prop.. :)

I will play with the friction adjust, great call out! Also glad I stumbled into the right prop. Made all the difference in the world!

Also the fish just keep on coming, the wife hooked this Atlantic sail on Sunday!
