yep... great little unit. GPS takes a little time to aquire the fix but when it does the numbers show up right on the display, and you can toggle between the numbers, the signal strength bars and a circular map of the satellites. the SOS light is a bit of a gimmick, but it doesnt hurt anything to have it. the speaker is good, as is the transmit power. you can also get a battery pack that runs on 8 AAs to supplement the rechargeable battery it comes with, great especially if youre putting it in a ditch bag. overall, i would definately recommend the unit.
 
Thanks pelagic2530. Yes, I was thinking it might be a worthwhile addition to the ditch bag. Any other suggestions?

Any comments on other model vhf/gps devices in addition to the STANDARD HX850S HANDHELD VHF W/GPS AND DSC?
