Rangerdog ducks in the thread and looks around for Kevin. No show yet!
How did I miss this thread?
Yes kids... I have been towed twice.
The first time was in the spring of 2004, one week after splashing my new-to-me purchase for the first time.
I took some neighbors out for a creek crawl / happy hour, and when I got ready to leave, she would crank, but wouldn't start. :?
Towboat Reliant took me home.
The problem? A bad 02 sensor and a dirty fuel system.
Now you know why I'm such a proponent of adding Ringfree, StarTron, and Stabil to my fuel at
every fill-up.
The second time I was towed was the following spring, and was
totally my fault.
I was trying to use the fuel up in one of my wing tanks and knew it was low... I just didn't know how low.
5 minutes after jumping on plane and entering the Bay, the motor died.
No problem... I hustle back to the transom and twist the 3-way valve to the center position to switch to the main tank.
Long story short, the motor won't refire and
Towboat Rescue takes me home.
All the way back to the dock I'm trying to figure how I'm going to finance a new motor.
Cause?
See that 3-way valve in the photo? It's actually a 4-way valve.
Starboard - Main - Port -
OFF!
Move that handle so that the paddle is facing the inside of the boat (which can be done if you're in a hurry), and it shuts the fuel system
OFF.
The lessons we learn...
