What are these brackets made of? Alum?

Yes.... Aluminum. The manufactures name is "Stainless Marine"..... and they do make marine parts from Stainless and Aluminum....

Having a crack in one with age is not that uncommon. Mine hade a couple small one's.
When I repowered... I removed the bracket [Not for the faint at heart] and had them welded up. Blasted the bracket and brought it back to new condition.

Looks sweet! Was the paint match difficult?
