A new day for menhaden management

I have always thought that those factory ships would make good wrecks! The powers to be punish the receational fisherman but let the commercial guys destroy the fishery.

Hurricane Irene, East Coast Watch Thread

Boat is on the trailer and secured( I hope!). Got all the ties tight and backed in close to my house. I don't think my flounder trip off Cape Henry is going to happen tomorrow.

CP member hobbies when you aren't boating or fishing?

I usually say fishing and my grandkids are my hobbies, but now that I am retiring from football after 37 years of coaching high school and college, I guess I will have to add to my list. I use to wing shoot with my dad and derr hunted. Living on the Chesapeake Bay provides a lot of choices.

    Fish Trivia

It appears to be a type of manhaden--- sometimes called an L-Y, bunker etc. Common names are ussually confusing. Many toothy critters love to eat then. They are used in the manufacture of many products from dog food to make-up. Ussually processed for their oil.

    dealer territory

I bought my 2120 from a dealer that at the time was no more than 65miles from another Parker dealer. I bought it at a boat show that both dealers had boats and nothing was mentioned about 'territories'. I still trailer my boat to my dealer(25 miles) for service because they have been so great.

Where does water drain inside my pilothouse? Funky smell?

I have a 2120 '06. I haven't experience that problem, but I agree- a little bleach and bilge cleaner should do the trick. make sure some little critter didn't get in there and die.

    2120 SC

I bought a 2120Sc in 2006 from Norfolk Marine. They were great to deal with and I trailer my boat back every year for them to do it's yearly check up. I have owned several types of boats and dealt with a number of different marine dealers. I will always deal with Norfolk Marine. They have earned...

    Octane additive to gas

I use an ethanol stabilizer often in my tank and have never had a gas related problem. Ethanol can pull condensation and cause water build-up. So I think using an ethanol stabilizer is a good idea.

    electricial problem solved.

I had the same thing happen to me last year while on my May Trip. I called my dealer and their matenance people put me right on track. Same problem. Easy to fix. Norfolk Marine has always treated me well and have helped with every problem--- which have been few.

    Religious Retreat

Fished 6 days. Mostly in the Oyster Inlet area and once at the 'Cell'. Did well on flounder ranging in size from 18 3/4 to 24 inches. Numbers were good as far as total fish--a lot of throw backs but we average 4 keeper fish per day with 8 fish one day. Did not drum fish because the winds and...

Well I am getting ready to embark on our annual Eastern Shore Fishing Sabatical. Our little band of sealots will be in religious pursuit of Perilichythyhes dentatus for up to 11 days. This eastern shore retreat has been going on for 30 years and our band of brothers has grown to twelve. Some of...

    My Father

My condolences for your loss. My father was a navy vet of WWII. He passed away in 1988 and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him. He taught me the love of fishing and hunting, and to look at a man's character before judging him. He still lives in me and your father still...
