New Parker 2320 vs. Used 2520 vs. Eastern 248 or 27?

I've had my 2320DVSC since September of 2002. As far as being trailer able, it is excellent. This boat has been from San Diego to Morro Bay in CA, Bahia de Los Angeles and Punta Chivato in Baja, back to the mothership in Beaufort for three years out of Straits, and now back to California. The...

    Snow at home base

So I drag the girl back to Beaufort from CA and look what I get. This was Tuesday, 1-11-11. A friend took the pic as I was enjoying the ice in Raleigh.....

    carolina's raftup?

New year coming up. Let's make it happen in 2011. I dragged mine home to Beaufort from CA, let's see how many different state registrations we can get at Cape Lookout. I'm vying for longest tow. June? Fall? Oh, I need to change my hometown to Beaufort, NC...Straits, really. Now is the time to...

    "Dry Weight" of 2320?

I figure I'm around 8,000#'s on the trailer with a full tank and gear. Trailer is rated for 9.800#'s gross, galvanized, two axle. Tow it with an F-250 7.3 PSD. Truck know's it's there. It's not the towing per se, it's the stopping. The ball rolling out in the street, followed by a child, and...

    2320 with 225 or 250 yamaha????

'02 2320 with an F225. Runs fine. Tops around 40, but never run there. Mid 20's cruise at ~2nmpg. Bury the bow if it's nasty and get ~1.7-1.8, it can fall off plane if it's too bad. Usually run full with three guys, gear, 40 gallon bait tank, 60-100#'s of ice, and always the tower. If there is...

    In Deck Fishbox?

I had the option of an indeck box on my 2320 and chose to have one. I really like it and as far as ice and draining-no problem. I trailer the boat so draining it is a gift from me to the ramp, I just unscrew the plug. I put 60-100#'s of ice in and an all day tuna trip in our cool water, still...

    Boat Launching question ?

I have a 2320 and I tow a bunk trailer with an F250 4x. Drive-on is pretty easy with this set-up, bumper/axle/brakes never in the water. I back down until the front bunks are just wet. Run the boat up until it contacts the front roller (at the winch post). Then I walk forward and hope down to...

    Aluminum Window Frames

Powder coating is not a great solution in a saltwater environment. If it isn't absolutely perfect, and it never is, moisture gets trapped behind it and once the powdercoating fails you have a more serious problem. I have a good friend that is a top powder coating person here in So Cal and he...

How to make a Parker fly

I think he needs to use a little more tab to keep the bow down. I heard those DV's like to have the forefoot in the water for a better ride!

    Sport Cabin?

Another vote for the open back. Mine is a 2320 and 7 years old. Canvas is fine, though I've repaired a couple of snaps. Open or off all summer. Closed in the winter (or what passes for winter in So Cal). Boat is going to North Carolina this year, so I will add a propane heater for winter. Jeff

Choosing between the 2320 and the 2520

I've had a 2320 since 2002 and a friend has a 2520. Towed them both with my F250 Powerstroke. The 2320 I am completely comfortable towing virtually anywhere-No Cal, Baja, and in November I will haul in back to North Carolina from So Cal. The 2520 I wouldn't dream of doing any of that-local OK...

    Parker 2320 Fuel Use Question

I agree with GrouperJim on optimal speed-my sweet spot is right in the 4,400-4,800 range. I get slightly lower mpg-likely because I have a tower on mine. I have a similar bait set-up-40 gallons. Burn is also very affected by sea state. Pushing over a ground swell has a significant effect. Jeff

Tow vehicle for 21 foot Pilothouse

One can define towing as either getting an object moving or stopping an object. I prefer the stopping side. That being said, more is better, not to mention the turning and control part. For my money and safety, not to mention the safety of others, I'll still with the 3/4 ton pick-up for a 2320...

    Trolling with 250 Yama 4stroke

I troll for halibut at .8 to 1.1 kts with my F225. I use two drift socks, one on each side of the boat (2320DVSC) and the engine at idle. Sets the speed perfectly and I don't have to bump in and out of gear. I run the lines off the forward amidships cleat, with the tail tied off to the aft...

    SoCal Rendezvous

What a great weekend. Weather in the low 80's, no wind, great people, and great boats. Excellent way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Now to find time for the projects that were inspired. Jeff

SoCal Parker BBQ in Long Beach Harbor

Great. The BBQ is on deck and I'm picking up the bratwurst from the German deli on Friday...........oh and I've got some squid in the freezer that needs some exercise. Jeff

SoCal Parker BBQ in Long Beach Harbor

This is going to be real long period stuff-coming from Japan. It's the 6-8' at short period that makes a mess. Pretty stable Wx in general so low probability of a bust in the forecast. I'm in for this weekend. Jeff

SoCal Parker BBQ in Long Beach Harbor

Plan A sounds good. I can't stay o'night as I have commitments on Sunday, so will be leaving after the BBQ. Fish derby could be who comes up with a legal Calico bass from Catalina..........or the first local YT. Jeff

2320 DVSL Test from Parker - F225 Yamaha

The prop is a 15x17 as in the test data. At the stated cruise, I get around 2.0 nmpg, again depending on sea state. It can get down to 1.6-1.7 if it's snotty and I'm running at the low end. If I run up in the 5K range it get down into that area again. Jeff
