Buying a boat with motor corrosion

I would be very careful. There have been many who lost their motors due to corrosion extending even into the powerhead - and their lack of response to an obvious manufacturing defect tells you a lot about how Yamaha stands by its products.

    Boat slip

My Parker has been in a wet slip year round since December 2007 and has only come out to be serviced/bottom painted. I have the bottom cleaned once a month by a diver - very common in South Florida. (It even survived Irma!) I have had no problems thus far.

    Yamaha Problems F225

It was not fixed by 2004 and extended beyond that.

    Cabin boats in hot weather...

I'm in South Florida. There is no question, the pilothouse is the best place to be on a hot day - it's much cooler in there than out in the sun. As was mentioned by others - make sure both front windows open as this helps quite a bit. Installing some shade in the back can also help. I actually...

    Parker 2530 Extended Cabin

Based on their dedication to customer service, efforts to stand by their products and history of issuing recalls to protect customers from potential dangers related to their products, I would also advise against purchasing anything Yamaha. :(

What new model would you like to see Parker make?

One without a Yamaha on the back.

    Yamaha 225 2003-2004

Yamaha has known of this problem for years (well documented) and the real potential for catastrophic engine failure (also documented). Flushing the engine and performing all the recommended maintenance procedures would not prevent this problem as it is a manufacturing defect. Despite this they...

    Best performance engine for 2520

You should seriously look at Suzuki. They spin a bigger prop with more torque that can help quite a bit with lifting the stern of a 2520 - which will have the tendency to ride a bit bow high without proper tabs. I replaced the original F225 on my 2520XL with a Suzuki 300 - it now rides like a...

Are Sport Cabins hot in summer?

I have learned a few things along the way in doing this type of a project. It can get quite hot down here in South FL in the summer and Parker pilothouses are not particularly well insulated - so I would go with as powerful an AC unit as you can. I have a 16,000 BTU unit (that will run on a...

Are Sport Cabins hot in summer?

I worried about the pilot house being too hot when I moved my 2520XL to South Florida but I have found that the pilot house is usually the best place to be in the hot Florida summers. It is much cooler in the pilot house with less punishment from the intense sunlight we have here. It's also a...

    2520XL Nervous Buyer

You just purchased a really terrific boat! I own a 2520XL that I bought new in 2004 from Boats Inc. I cannot speak for anyone else but my experience with them was great - excellent support even after moving the boat to SE Florida. I had the boat in Narragansett Bay for 3 years and now in SE...

oppinions to barrier coat or not????

In New England, probably not. If it will be in the water for longer periods of time, I would certainly consider barrier coating. My Parker has been in the water more than 3 years down here in Florida. During that amount of time you risk blisters without barrier coating. If you do get it...

    2120 vs 2520 dv drift?

Also remember, the MV will require less HP and burn less overall - ultimately less $ to run.

Check out my 2520 with water source A/C install!

How did you get tubing around the gas tank from the seacock to the AC unit? We had difficulty with this and didn't want to blindly drill forward.

Beckson Internal Rain Shields NOT an Easy Install

I have a 2004 2520XL and could not get the external shields to fit either. I eventually gave them to a friend with a Grady. After calling around I found that Parker has changed the portholes from time to time and sizes will vary from year to year. Ventilation is important for pilothouse...

    Window leaking...any solutions?

I had the same problem. The South Florida sun is very rough on gaskets, making them brittle which results in cracking. I called my Parker dealer to ask about getting new gaskets but the only thing offered was to replace the whole porthole - not worth the expense. I used marine grade silicone...

Keep the boat in the water?

I have had my boat in the water in FL for almost 2 years. I would certainly opt for the lift if possible. Accessibility will lead to the most use so I would say lift first, in the water second and if you are living on the water, the trailer a distant third. If you decide to leave it in the...

    Help me decide?!?

I have a 2520XL in South Florida. Opened up, it is much cooler in the pilot house with far less sun exposure. I actually feel sorry sometimes for the guys out in their more "open" boats - some of them look pretty red!

Pilothouse LOUVERS for the trunk cabin windows

I had tried to get these in the past but they did not fit. I have a 2004 2520XL and came to find out that Parker has not always used the same portholes from year to year. Mine were an odd size and I did not find a vendor with the right size. In the end it did not matter much to me as I...
